What a Woman!

Originally, Sherri came over to help me organize our goods. Alas! Once again the movers let us down. When I called to find out where our belongings were, the answer was, "I think they're in Melbourne." Aargh! Obviously, we won't be writing any letters of recommendation for these people.

While we were trying to decide what to do instead to cheer me up, Rose appeared close to tears because the sink in one of the downstairs units was badly dripping and Arthur was in Mandurah. I think she was hoping George could help her and was most surprised when she joked, "I don't suppose either of you know anything about plumbing!" and Sherry replied that she did. As a Navy wife with a husband who's often gone for months at a time, Sherri has learned to be very self-sufficient. Now she's branching out and doing plumbing work for our landlord.

To complicate matters further, the part Rose bought didn't fit
so Sherri had to downsize it with a knife.

The faucet probably hadn't been touched for forty years and was corroded onto the pipe. I still don't know how Sherri managed to get it off. Since the fitting was too large, it caused water to spurt out everywhere when Rose turned the water back on. I don't think either of us planned a shower but we got one anyway. We were laughing so hard that I forgot to be bummed about our shipment snafu.

Voila! Vin owes her big time.

Afterward, we took the train to Subiaco and enjoyed a tasty lunch of vegetarian pizza (Sherri) and Penne in Garlic Gorgonzola Sauce with Rocket (me). It was yummy and just what the doctor ordered. Then we searched for a shop that we never found until Lisa and Shirley Kay took me there yesterday. What would I do without my friends? I shudder at the mere thought!

Multi-talented Sherri is a great cook as well as a master plumber.
We all enjoyed our meal at our neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant.

One of the things George loves about Oz is that some of the restaurants allow you to bring in your own beer and wine if they don't have a liquor license. Song Tam doesn't even charge a corkage fee like most places so it's a great bargain. We all want to try some Sizzling Prawn with Black Bean Chili Sauce next time. The table next to us ordered it and it looked amazing.
